KOTA KINABALU: Anthony Kiob, 57 has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Development Studies (Sabah) (IDS).
The Tambunan-born was officially appointed during the IDS 81st Board of Directors Meeting held at Wisma Sedia here today.
Anthony will lead the autonomous research body with the primary mission to assist the government in meeting the needs and aspiration of the people through research and analysis on development issues.
Anthony has been with IDS for 23 years, during which he has taken various research and consultancy projects ranging from State administrative policies, upgrading of districts, infrastructure development, oil and gas royalties, and agricultural advancement, SME’s product innovation to development of local Bumiputera entrepreneur.
From February 2017 to January 2019, he was seconded to Yayasan Inovasi Malaysia (YIM) as the CEO, promoting and inculcating creativity and innovation amongst Malaysian citizens, especially targeting grassroots community.
Among his priority as the CEO of IDS is focussing on research areas relevant to the development of the state such as poverty, national unity, oil royalty, districts development plan and MA63 which are also the current concern of the state government and would like IDS to be prepared to embrace the challenges ahead in these research areas.
