KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau has no qualms in declaring his assets to the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC).
“Yes, we will do the necessary,” said the Tuaran MP when asked to comment on Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed’s statement that all MPs must declare the worth of assets in their possession as well as those owned by their family members to the MACC.
Madius said he had also complied with such requirement when he was the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in the previous Barisan Nasional Federal government.
“So we are in the process of doing that,” he said met after witnessing the agreement signing ceremony between MasWings and AFI-KLM E&M on Wednesday.
Tun Mahathir Mohamad was reported as saying that there will be no exception to the rule, not for members of his Cabinet nor for the Opposition.
“All ministers must make sure that all members of their administration must declare their assets to the MACC.
“We are extending this to all MPs including those from the Opposition. If the Opposition wants to exercise their power and criticise the government, they must also declare their assets,” he said after receiving the proposal from the Governance, Integrity and Anti Corruption Centre (GIACC) on Tuesday.-SabahNewsToday
