PENAMPANG: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) President Datuk Seri Dr. Maximus Ongkili did not discount the possibility of working out an agreement with other opposition parties in the state to face the 15th General Election (15GE).
However, he said for now PBS main priority was to strengthen its divisions and branches, especially in its foothold.
“I have already said it that we are open to cooperation, it is within our constitution, what more to explore strategies, a win-win, among the oppositions.
“But to us, it is too early for that. For now, we want to strengthen our divisions and branches, especially in areas where we are strong,” he said when asked to comment on the suggestion by a Kiulu delegate for PBS to spearhead the formation of a solidarity council with Star and PBRS.
The call was made during the debate of the president policy speech in conjunction with PBS 34th annual delegates conference at Hongkod Koisaan here on Saturday.
Dr. Maximus also assured that PBS would not be insisting on areas where chances of the party winning are slim.
The PBS Kiulu delegate, Kumin Gabpai had reasoned that should the solidarity council is realised it would make PBS, Star and PBRS more formidable in the next election.-SabahNewsToday
