FORMER UMNO SABAH LEADERS DENY HAVING ANY CONNECTION WITH “THE SECRET LETTER”

By Chris Maskilone

KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Umno chief, Datuk Seri Haji Hajiji Haji Noor vehemently denies having anything to do with the so-called secret letter allegedly written by him among others calling for an exodus of all ex-Umno members in Sabah to PPBM (Bersatu).

Published in two blogs and making its round in the social media since yesterday, Hajiji in the letter allegedly issued a directive to all those who had left Umno Sabah to secretly track down all project IC holders given during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed’s first stint as Prime Minister.

The letter stated that once these project IC holders have been located, then they should be registered with Bersatu.

“I would like to stress here that I and my friends who are formerly leaders of Sabah Umno have nothing to do or no direct connection whatsoever with what had been accused and viraled in the social media.

“I strongly denied the accusation and it is a defamation meant to damage and smear my good name and reputation as Sulaman Assemblyman,” said Hajiji in a statement here today.

Hajiji believed there were certain parties with bad intention deliberately trying to link im and Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed, as well as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), to the alleged ‘Project IC’.

“I and my friends who are formerly leaders of Sabah Umno will continue to fight to ensure the rights and interests of Sabahans and Sabah continue to be safeguarded in Malaysia,” he said.

The former Local Government and Housing Minister said he was investigating this matter and has directed his lawyer to take legal recourse against the perpetrator and the two blogs.

He also hoped social media practitioners will be more careful, ethical and responsible and would avoid spreading such baseless and defamatory article because it is harmful for the people and community.-SabahNewsToday
