SANDAKAN: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) leadership will decide on possible participation in the Sandakan by-election after consulting other Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS) colleagues.
“There is no decision yet. The party leadership will decide after taking into account all angles and consultation with other GBS friends,” said PBS President Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili, today.
He added that that party was also here to do ground checking and analyse feedbacks from the party leaders, as well as members supporters.
Ongkili noted that to date, PBS members and supporters here remain strong and steadfast with the party, despite being offered to join Warisan-linked parties.
In fact, he said, feedbacks from the ground revealed that many who voted for the Parti Harapan-Warisan parties in the last election are now regretful for doing so.
“They feel cheated because of broken election promises and the absence of any improvement in administration and development after almost a year in government,” he said, when leading senior PBS leaders to the PBS leadership and management seminars organised for the party’s Beluran and Sandakan divisional leaders and senior members.
He added: “Business conditions in the districts also continue to worsen with higher costs of goods and services, and it is worse with the dampened prices of oil palm and rubber prices.
“People also claimed that PATI (illegal immigrants) are still roaming in towns. Urban and rural people are suffering without any help from the Federal and State governments. Life has never been harder than than now,” he said.
Ongkili said these reports showed that the Harapan Government does not know how to manage the State.
“They just talk and make promises. Just look at the way Warisan’s annual general meetings are being run … full of quarreling and infighting. How can they run Sabah well and properly if they cannot even have a smooth party election?” he asked likening the recent commotions as a “typical mundu (pirates) style.”-SabahNewsToday
