KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has channeled allocations totalling RM1.241 million for the repairs, upgrading and equipment procurement for the Luyang Health Clinic last year.

He said this in reply to the issues raised by Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin in his motion speech under Standing Order 17 at the Special Chamber in Parliament yesterday.

Lee added that the government was very concern about the healthcare facilities in Sabah.

“The Health Ministry take serious note of the issues raised by YB Kota Kinabalu pertaining to the physical state of the Luyang Health Clinic, Inanam and Menggatal that needs immediate attention,” he said.

He said the allocation to Luyang Clinic was to buy new equipment to replace those damaged due to a fire incident.

Among the equipments were an ultrasound machine, top loading machine, lab model trimmer, portable cutting unit set, three dental chair cum unit (DCCU) and an air-conditioner.

According to him, the ministry has also received an application from the Sabah Health Department to get RM123,000 fund for the repairs and upgrading of electricity wiring apart from RM140,000 for medical equipment in Inanam Clinic.

The application was currently being looked into and consideration would be based on the government’s financial standing as well as its urgency, he said.

“The Health Ministry realise there are still many that needs to be improved in terms of comfort to the patients and clinic staff.

“However, with the financial constraints faced by the government today, priority will have to be given to procurement and replacement of medical equipment to ensure the people continue to get proper healthcare services,” he said.-SabahNewsToday
