MALAKUN, ONGKILI RETURNED AS KDCA DEPUTY PRESIDENT

PENAMPANG: Bulawan Sigah Datuk Seri Clarence Bongkos Malakun and Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili have been re-elected to the deputy president post of the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association at the Hongkod Koisaan here today.

Malakun garnered 537 votes while Ongkili polled 432 votes during the KDCA office bearers election for the 2018-2021 term.

The third candidate in the three-cornered contest, Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau only secured 271 votes.

Bulawan Sigah Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, an appointed deputy president in the previous committee, has pulled out from the deputy president race.

KDCA has five deputy presidents with two being elected and three others to be appointed.

This time a total of 715 delegates from the various KDCA branches in the State were eligible to vote.

Huguan Siou Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan was on hand to monitor the voting and counting process.

Pairin was unopposed for the KDCA president post.

Pairin, Malakun and Madius stayed until the counting process ended while Ongkili left shortly after casting his vote earlier.

Meanwhile, counting of votes for the vice president posts and committee members is still on going.-SabahNewsToday
