KOTA KINABALU: Mayor Datuk Nordin Siman is looking forward to work closely with the respective elected representatives whose constituencies are within the City Hall boundary.

“I am glad to be able to meet up (with Luyang Assemblyman Ginger Phoong and Kota Kinabalu MP Chan Foong Hin). It is an opportunity to work together to develop the areas in the City.

“We need strong leaders to assist us in carrying out our plans,” he told reporters after visiting Foh Sang market here today.

He was accompanied by Chan and Phoong.

Nordin has stayed near Foh Sang for more than 30 years but it was his maiden official visit to the area after being appointed as Mayor on Jan 1.

Meanwhile, Phoong said he was happy that Nordin took the time to visit Foh Sang together with him and Chan.

“I will be meeting with the Mayor later to discuss about the development that we had in mind for Foh Sang,” he said.

Among the proposed developments were the Foh Sang Night Market and the inter connection of the major areas in Luyang, said Phoong.

On the proposed multi-storey car park, Phoong said due to the transition of government, the project has been put on hold and subject to a review.

Meanwhile, Chan welcomed Nordin’s commitment to develop Luyang, which is one of the three state constituencies in the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary area.

The others are Likas and Api-Api.

“As I have said before, our job is to listen to the constituents and relay their problems and requests to the right authority in order to find solutions,” he said.-SabahNewsToday
