Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria and Tanjung Aru presents a 60-kilo birthday cake to TYT

BIRTHDAY CAKE … Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin (third left) receives a special cake from Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resort & Spa and Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa to commemorate his 66th birthday at the Istana Negeri in Kota Kinabalu today.

Also present was Juhar’s wife, Toh Puan Norlida Tan Sri R.M Jasni.

Presenting the 60-kilo carrot with cream cheese cake were Shangri-La’s Rasa Ria Resorts General Manager, Fiona Hagan (far right) and Director of Communications Regina Sulit-Lain (fourth from left) while representing Shangri-La’s Tanjung Aru Resort was Event Manager, Mosley Ogie Seman (far left).

Prepared by the Rasa Ria Pastry team led by Pastry Chef, Daniel Peh, the cake’s centre piece was a grand piano made of sugar paste that housed mini doughnuts of various flavours.

When the piano top is opened, a familiar birthday tune could also be heard.

It took Chef Daniel and his team four days to complete the cake and another two weeks for the piano.

The Sabah Head of State’s official birthday is celebrated on every first Saturday of October, which this year falls on Oct 5.-SabahNewsToday
