KOTA KINABALU: United Malaysia, the nation’s official Manchester United supporters’ club, paid a courtesy call to new Sabah Youth and Sports Minister YB Phoong Jin Zhe at his office in Wisma Muis, Sembulan here on June 13, 2019.

Led by its president Batholomew Jingulam, the club extended an invitation for YB Phoong to attend the 4th United Malaysia Annual Dinner at the Hakka Hall Grand Ballroom here on June 28.

The annual dinner organising chairman Fabian Faurillo also informed the Minister that United legend Ronny Johnsen, who was part of the famous treble-winning Man Utd team in the 1998-1999 season, will be coming as a special guest at the dinner.

Jingulam told Phoong that this year’s dinner will see the attendance of close to 1,200 members, making it not just the biggest event in United Malaysia’s history but also probably the biggest football supporters’ gathering in Malaysia to date.

In return, Phoong, who is also a Man Utd fan himself, was delighted with United Malaysia’s progress since its inception, having followed its development over the years.

He said he had wanted to attend the dinner in previous years but could not do so due to work commitments.

The Minister appreciated the invitation to the dinner, saying he is keen on making it to United Malaysia’s yearly event this time around.-SabahNewsToday
